Trout Lake

Trout Lake – 1.2mi / 2km

This quaint lake is nestled in a picturesque landscape of tree-lined meadows with a rocky cliff backdrop. The trail begins with a short climb of 0.3mi/0.5km through meadows and mature trees. The wildflowers in early summer are stunning and the birding is great along this trail.

At the top of this short climb, the trail enters the beautiful scene of the lake. The trail crosses over the outlet stream, then loops around the lake following the shoreline. The inlet stream is a great place to see cutthroat trout during spawning season.

Trailhead: The signed trailhead for Trout Lake is located in the Soda Butte Canyon between Soda Butte and the Northeast Entrance on the Northeast Entrance Road.

Elevation Gain: 250ft / 75m – Elevation Loss: 250ft / 75m
