The Grotto Trail

The Grotto Trail is a lazy walk connecting the Grotto with the Zion Lodge. This walk spends most of its time in the shade, and is a nice stroll for those wanting to spend some time in the canyon on a trail with little elevation change. The trees open up in pockets to reveal views of the impressive cliffs that make up Zion Canyon. This trail is frequently combined with the Lower Emerald Pool Trail and Kayenta Trail to form a nice loop inside of the canyon. (See more in the Emerald Pools Loop description.)

Trailhead: Take the National Park Service’s free shuttle to either the Zion Lodge or the Grotto stops in the main Zion Canyon or drive the Zion Canyon Road if the shuttles aren’t running and the road is open to private vehicles.

Elevation Gain: 50ft / 15m – Elevation Loss: 25ft / 8m
